Context
Brief
Consciousness Collective (CoCo) at Berkeley is a peer-directed student organization that promotes mindfulness and wellness to the UC Berkeley campus and beyond. It also runs the largest student-led class at Berkeley with 90+ participants per semester.
As Head of Marketing and Design, my job was threefold: (1) managing all social media accounts, (2) helping to create the official website, and (3) sending out the weekly email newsletter.
My work was impactful in growing one of the largest organization's at UC Berkeley of 500+ email subscribers, and doubling Instagram followers during my term.

Deliverables
My priorities when designing social media graphics were to relay information clearly and concisely, to ensure that my designs aligned with CoCo's themes of nature and neutral color palettes, and to incorporate real photos from events.

Musings & Reflections

Understand the brand and step out of the box while designing!
One of my first steps in this role was to curate a brand based on photos I collected from events and the organization's values. From there I was able to establish an aesthetic that is playful, natural, and inviting. Although this aesthetic did not necessarily align with my own design style at the time, I was forced to think outside of my comfort zone and learn how to work beyond my area of expertise.
Consider how different touchpoints interact with each other
My role as head of design required many moving parts. As I curated the weekly newsletter, designed social media posts, and assembled the newsletter, it was important to consider how each of these components worked as a team to tell a story and relay information. With this understanding under my belt, I ensured that each piece was cohesive with the others even though they might have been different channels of interactions with the reader.
